This course is designed for both experienced and inexperienced teachers who are interested in creating a kind of learning environment where verbal and non-verbal communication is integrated; learning is made more meaningful and personalized, and through a high level of motivation, self-confidence and self-esteem is fostered. The kinds of activities and strategies advocated in the course will give participants opportunities to create a positive effect on classroom dynamics. They will be encouraged to experiment with an open and enjoyable style of teaching in which they will be able to draw on learners’ creativity and imagination, thus, involve learners at many levels, from cognitive to affective domains.
Our training program is designed as a workshop, an intensive learning activity, which will provide the participants with both knowledge and skills, and hands-on experience with drama. In the initial phase of the workshop, after a brief discussion on “why drama?” the participants will be familiarized with certain background subjects such as the role of motivation, self-confidence, group dynamics, and different learning styles in drama activities. In the second, practical, part of the workshop, the focus will be on how to enhance participants’ skills and strategies in using a selected list of drama activities and materials so that after attending the workshop the participants could use them in their own classrooms.
